What a watermark actually accomplishes
A watermark will not stop a determined re-uploader — cropping and modern removal tools handle most of them. What it does reliably is travel with the file. When your clip is reposted without credit, a visible mark still tells every viewer where it came from, which is why attribution, rather than protection, is the realistic goal.
Placement and opacity
Corners are the convention because they stay clear of faces and captions, but they are also the easiest area to crop away. A mark placed nearer the centre survives cropping and costs more viewer attention, which is the trade-off to make deliberately. Reduced opacity, somewhere around fifty to seventy percent, stays legible while letting the footage read through it.

Frequently asked questions
Will a watermark stop people stealing my video?

Can I use a transparent PNG logo?
Yes. Transparent PNGs composite cleanly over footage, which is why they are the usual choice for logo overlays.
Where should I put the watermark?
